Summary on Grant Application Form
Whilst support varieties for group algebras have proved valuable tools in the modular representation theory of finite groups, it is only very recently, from work of the PI and Solberg, that a successful analogue for general finite dimensional algebras has been found. This project seeks to build on the established collaboration and recent work of the PI and VF to develop this theory in the context of group graded algebras and their associated coverings, drawing on structures from group cohomology, one of the areas of expertise of the CI. The research proposed will give further results relating to the conjecture of the PI and Solberg on the Hochschild cohomology of a finite dimensional algebra, and so will further develop the understanding of the representation theory of such an algebra.
