Summary on Grant Application Form
The researchers of this proposal welcome the great opportunity provided by the NSF-EPSPC program and are committed to make a concerted effort to undertake the proposed work. Having solid research records with a very successful history of collaborations, the researchers are well positioned to face the challenges of the difficulties in the proposed tasks and successfully complete the research project. With our diligent work and continuing effort, it is expected that the proposed work will be accomplished in the proposed time frame. New feedback stabilization methods (using discrete-time and discrete-state feedback) and feedback for stability in distribution will be developed; novel method for treating mean-field games of switching diffusions will be initiated; numerical algorithms for mean-field type controls and games will be proposed and developed; numerical methods for partially observed control systems will be furnished. The algorithms to be developed, and the asymptotic analysis to be carried out will jointly contribute to the further development of stochastic systems theory, and have broader impacts on the fields with applications to control engineering, mathematical biology and ecology, financial engineering, and control of social networks. Integrating the proposed research, teaching, and student and postdoctoral fellow training, the planned work will improvement of mathematics education, which will contribute to the training of next generation of scientists and engineers so as to make significant contribution to the society. It will be beneficial to the societies at large for both UK and US. Our effort will ultimately open up new avenues for further scientific innovations.
