Summary on Grant Application Form |
The UKNIBC provides a single point of access for the UK research community to world-leading ion beam modification and analysis infrastructure and expertise. An integral part of the EPSRC portfolio, the UKNIBC is a collaborative delivery partnership between The University of Huddersfield, The University of Manchester's Dalton Cumbrian Facility and The University of Surrey. For more information see: http://www.uknibc.com/
The UK National Ion Beam Centre provides ion beam time for a range of external users, using ion beams in a range of different ways. Uses range from implantation for doping semiconductor materials to change their electrical and optical properties to ion beam analysis of meteor impacts on items recovered from space (to determine the origin of space debris), with many more application in between.
This application provides funding to support users for rapid access for small pump priming applications as well as short student training projects. It supports a total of 1,400 free (to the user) access hours across the distributed centre each year. An additional 7,640 hours paid access are available for users.
