Summary on Grant Application Form |
Today, whether or not heart diseases affecting millions of people in the UK is accurately diagnosed depends almost entirely on how the patient describes their symptoms to a non-specialist GP. Mobile phones, wearables such as smartwatches, and other technologies are now very common and can obtain a lot of information that could help diagnose heart disease. However, this requires such technologies to be developed and for us to understand how patients and doctors use the technologies and understand the data they provide.
This project will work with patients and doctors to learn what information they believe is necessary to diagnose a range of heart diseases. We will develop and test the technologies required to obtain this information. We will then develop ways to communicate this data to both patient and doctor to provide the greatest possible insights into the persons physical and mental health.
