Summary on Grant Application Form |
This ICT-Hopping proposal is to enable the principal investigator (PI) from Communication Engineering research background to learn and acquire a new skill in Atomic Physics. The essence of this is to acquire the knowledge of electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) that can subsequently used to address challenges in wireless communications. The EIT technique is vital in making a highly sensitive, wide-band atom-based radio receiver from an ensemble of Rydberg atoms. The post-hopping ambition is to use this new skill, and combine expertise with leading experts in Rydberg atom research, to address challenges in modern wireless communications. Specifically, to develop a highly sensitive Rydberg atom heterodyne receiver capable of operating over multiple frequency bands.
