This proposal requests funds for a single-crystal X-ray diffractometer, to replace existing equipment which is now defunct and beyond repair. The equipment is required to enable the continuation of small-molecule X-ray crystallography at UEA, in support a range of active research programmes in synthetic inorganic, organometallic, catalytic and materials chemistry. Projects range from catalyst design for the polymerisation of alkenes and polar monomers, the coordination chemistry of calixarenes and potential anti-cancer drugs and the establishment of structural motifs in intra- and intermolecular interactions in solid organometallics to novel phthalocyanines for sensor deivces and other materials applications.
