Summary on Grant Application Form |
The objective of the proposed research is to develop a new methodology for on-line real-time modelling of gas turbine engines for condition monitoring and performance optimisation. On-line engine modelling using the engine run data represents a complex task. The aim of this research is to overcome problems of real-time data-based dynamic modelling of aero gas turbines and further develop theoretical and experimental results to such a point that airlines and gas turbine engine manufacturers may use them commercially. This requires intensive interdisciplinary research in the area of systems identification and dynamic modelling, artificial intelligence, and algorithms and software design for real-time application. Direct social consequences from this work include fewer delays and cancellations for passengers due to strict adherence to flight schedule by airlines, reduction of operational costs and engine emissions. Therefore, the project will have scientific, economic and social impact
