Panel History:
Summary on Grant Application Form
The national consortium brings together key players in the UK to make available a wide range of techniques for fabrication and test of a range of highly innovative carbon based devices. It encompasses displays to power devices, MEM's to low cost electronics, and esnors to solar cells. The proposal covers devices made from a wide range of conjugated polymers, oligomers and porganic molecules as well as the various forms of carbon : a-C, diamond, and nanotubes. The attainment of devices in materials which have high carrier mobilities and low densities of traps is the major focus of the work.Particular objectives of the Bristol group include investigation of the use of a DC plasma jet to grow ultrananocrystalline diamond (UCND) at high rates, with and without N incorporation, characterisation of this novel material (focussing particulalrly on its electron emission characteristics) and investigations of the gas phase chemistry associated with growth of P and S doped CVD diamond.
