Summary on Grant Application Form
The Plafform Grant will be used to provide stability, coherence and longer term support to our current strong activities related to the thermomechanical processing of light alloys, in which six academic staff have a substantial research effort. This will be achieved by providing bridging support for research staff in key areas, such as microstructure and texture characterisation, experimentation and modelling. The continuity of funding provided by the grant will enable us to more rapidly evaluate and develop new research projects in the area through the use of existing skilled staff. The grant will enable us to develop a more coordinated approach to national and international research and training links and to develop a focussed activity of international standing, which will be of long term value to both industry and academics.
