Summary on Grant Application Form |
The programme will be run along three hierarchical themes: (1) operational; (2) planning; and (3) strategic; with the following components (supported by case studies):(la) Supply chain modelling: dynamic modelling of elements of the chain and their interactions, including model validation and parameter estimation(1b) Performance assessment: define key peformance indicators and their calculation procedures. (lc) Supply chain optimisation and control: design alternative control schemes and structures with adjustable parameters, including novel information infrastructures(2a) Demand forecasting: develop robust system to forecast demands for highly volatile products(2b) Multisite inventory and capacity planning: use demand forecasts, orders, manufacturing plans and customer service priorities to develop inventory management and production/distribution plans(3a) Higher-level dynamic modelling: where the strategies for co-ordination of the different activities and long-term performance may be assessed(3b) Robust optimisation: develop operating policies that perform well under uncertainty
